About Cheap Market Insight
Free SEO tools and guides, without the paywall
Cheap Market Insight is an independent SEO resource run by Sam, a Sydney-based marketer with 20 years in the industry — plain-English guides paired with free, no-signup tools. This page explains who's behind the site, how everything here gets researched and tested, and how it stays free.
Why this site exists
Good SEO shouldn't require a $99-a-month subscription. Most of the checks that actually move the needle — title length, readability, keyword density, schema, sitemaps — are simple enough to run for free, yet they're usually locked behind trials and upsells. And most "SEO advice" online is either years out of date or written to sell a product rather than to help you decide.
I built Cheap Market Insight to fix both problems: a growing library of current, honest guides, and a set of free tools that do the essentials well and run right in your browser. You can see the full toolkit on the free SEO tools page.
Who's behind it
Cheap Market Insight is written, built, and maintained by one person — no outsourced content mill, no anonymous "editorial team." Every guide and every tool on this site is something I created myself and checked against primary sources before publishing.
Sam
Founder — research, tools & guides · Sydney, Australia
I've spent 20 years in marketing, and these days my focus is search — helping small businesses and bloggers get found without the agency price tag. I studied marketing at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and hold Google and HubSpot SEO certifications, but most of what's on this site comes from hands-on work: building sites, testing what actually moves rankings, and reading the primary documentation — Google Search Central, Search Console guidance, and official platform docs — rather than recycled hearsay. The tools here are built around the same thresholds those sources define, and when guidance changes, I update the affected guides and tools.

What the site covers
The library spans the full modern search landscape, organised into five tracks:
- SEO fundamentals — how search works, keyword research, site architecture, and internal linking.
- Google algorithm & quality — core updates, E-E-A-T, information gain, and recovering from traffic drops.
- AI search & AEO — getting cited in AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Gemini as search shifts to answer engines.
- Technical SEO — Core Web Vitals, crawl errors, mobile-first indexing, and structured data.
- Content strategy — topical authority, pillar-and-cluster models, and content refreshes.
How everything is researched and tested
Every guide and tool is held to the same standard:
- Grounded in primary sources. Guidance comes from search engines' own documentation, not second-hand summaries, and guides link to those sources so you can verify claims yourself.
- Tools tested against real pages. Each tool is checked against live examples and the published limits it measures — title pixel widths, Flesch readability, valid JSON-LD, and so on.
- Kept current. When search or platform guidance changes, I revisit the affected guides and tools rather than leaving stale advice up. Guides show a "last updated" date that only changes when the content genuinely does.
- Privacy by design. The tools run in your browser, so your drafts and unpublished content aren't sent to or stored on any server.
- Mistakes get corrected. Spot an error? Email me and I'll fix it — accuracy matters more than looking infallible.
What this site stands for
Free, actually
No trials that expire, no "free" tools that demand an email first.
Privacy first
On-page checks run in your browser. I don't want your unpublished content.
Plain English
Clear results and advice, without jargon or fear-selling.
Honest & accurate
I'd rather say "it depends" than promise rankings nobody can guarantee.
How the tools stay free
Running a website costs money, so Cheap Market Insight is supported by advertising. Ads never influence the guides or tool results, and editorial content is clearly separated from paid placements. If affiliate links are ever added, they'll be disclosed — and will only point to things I'd use myself.
